Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today said that the Mahayuti alliance partners: the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP–Ajit Pawar faction), will contest the upcoming local body elections together.

Speaking to reporters at Kolhapur airport, where he arrived to attend the Sahasrachandra Darshan celebration of Pudhari Editor Pratapsingh Jadhav (Balasaheb Jadhav) on his 80th year, Fadnavis said, “Since the State Election Commission announced the election schedule yesterday, the Mahayuti partners will face these elections unitedly.”

He added that in places where seat-sharing arrangements are yet to be finalized, the alliance partners will take appropriate decisions . “All three Mahayuti partners stand together, and I am confident that the people of Maharashtra will once again place their trust in us,” the Chief Minister said.

Responding to a question about Shiv Sena (UBT) Chief Uddhav Thackeray’s visit to Vidarbha, Fadnavis said, “I am happy that Thackeray is visiting Vidarbha, but he only criticizes others instead of speaking about development works.”

The opposition parties only wanted to postpone the local institution elections. It was not now possible to postpone the elections as per Supreme Court’ directions on elections, Fadnavis replied on the Opposition’s demand to reply from the state election commission on ‘Dubar voters’.
