The Uttar Pradesh government celebrated Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti today with devotion and reverence through a series of religious and cultural events held across all 75 districts of the state in collaboration with local administrations.
In Lucknow, UP Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh inaugurated the Akhand Ramayana Path at the Naya Hanuman Temple in Aliganj, marking the beginning of continuous recitations of Sage Valmiki’s Ramayana across the state.
Later, the minister, along with Rajya Sabha MP Brijlal, visited Gautam Buddha Vihar Colony in Jankipuram, where they honored community members with the Valmiki Samman.
Speaking on the occasion, minister Jaiveer Singh said, “Under the guidance of Hon’ble Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state government is organizing Akhand Ramayana Path, Ramcharitmanas recitations, Sundar Kand, bhajan-kirtans, and other cultural programs in temples and places associated with Maharishi Valmiki across all districts. Such initiatives strengthen our faith, preserve tradition, and celebrate Uttar Pradesh’s living cultural heritage.”
He added, “To honor Maharishi Valmiki’s contribution to India’s civilizational values, the state government has named the international airport in Ayodhya after him and is installing a grand statue in his memory. The Sangeet Natak Akademi in Lucknow is also developing the Valmiki Auditorium, a memorial, library, and hostel facilities to promote his ideals and cultural influence.”
The minister informed that the Tourism Department is undertaking development works at Maharishi Valmiki’s Taposthali in Lalapur, Chitrakoot, including the installation of a grand statue and the organization of the Akhand Ramayana Path. “Special attention is being given to preserving and promoting sites associated with Maharishi Valmiki, so that more devotees and tourists can connect with these sacred locations,” he said.
Highlighting the inclusive vision of the government, Jaiveer Singh stated, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the double-engine government is progressing with the spirit of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’. Our goal is to ensure holistic development while preserving and promoting India’s cultural and spiritual legacy.”
Extending greetings to citizens on Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti, the Minister said, “Maharishi Valmiki’s life and message of compassion, wisdom, and righteousness remain timeless. His teachings guide us toward harmony, truth, and moral strength. On this sacred occasion, I urge everyone to embrace his ideals and work to strengthen social unity and cultural pride.”
