Maharashtra TET 2026 postponed a day before exam over ‘paper leak’ allegations; Congress, CJP’s Abhijeet Dipke react

Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2026 examination, which was scheduled to be conducted by Maharashtra State Council of Examination across the state on June 28, has been postponed over “paper leak” allegations.

According to the council, the decision to postpone the exam was taken after several questions from the actual examination were found in the unauthorised question paper held by certain individuals in Bhiwandi.⁹

“In light of the irregularities observed during the NEET 2026 examination, the Maharashtra State Council of Examination had implemented all necessary security measures. However, early this morning (June 27), acting on confidential information, it was learned that certain individuals in Bhiwandi were in possession of information related to the question paper. Subsequently, the Bhiwandi police raided the location in question. During the investigation, several questions from the actual examination were found in the unauthorized question paper held by them. The Bhiwandi police have registered a case against the individuals involved. Given the situation, the examination scheduled for June 28 has been postponed, and an investigation into the matter has been ordered,” the Maharashtra State Council of Examination said in a statement.

The development follows nationwide protests over the NEET-UG paper leak and the subsequent suicides of several aspirants after the examination was cancelled.

‘Paper Leak Government’: Opposition, CJP founder Dipke slams BJP over TET paper leak

Reacting to the development, the Opposition Congress launched a blistering attack on the BJP-led government, calling it a “Paper Leak Government.”

“Another paper leak…The TET paper has been leaked in Maharashtra. The exam was scheduled for tomorrow, which has now been cancelled. Under the BJP government, there is no paper that doesn’t get leaked. This government has become the “Paper Leak Government,” the Congress said on X.

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke, who has been sitting on an indefinite protest, demanding Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation over “paper leaks” and student suicides, has also criticised the government.

“TET exam paper leaked in Maharashtra. Is there any public exam left in this country that doesn’t end in a paper leak?” Dipke asked.

Shiv Sena (UBT) also attacked the BJP-led government in Maharashtra over the TET paper leak.

Speaking to reporters in Washim, UBT leader Ambadas Danve said that Maharashtra was a centre for the NEET paper leak, yet the Devendra Fadnavis government didn’t learn any lessons from it.

“Maharashtra was also a centre for the NEET paper leak. But the Government didn’t learn anything from it. TET is a smaller exam but the Maharashtra Govt didn’t pass here…I think this paper leak is a humiliation for the Maharashtra Govt. This Govt cannot handle the TET paper. We are sad that Maharashtra has such a government led by the BJP,” he added.
