Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi on Wednesday and is also expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sources said.
According to sources, Eknath Shinde and Amit Shah had a closed-door meeting for 25 minutes during which the issue of controversial ministers in the Maharashtra cabinet was discussed.
Amit Shah is likely to meet constituent parties of the Mahayuti soon to discuss this issue after Eknath Shinde told him that raising concerns about controversial cabinet ministers is an attempt to tarnish the image of the alliance, the sources said.
Confirming his meeting with Amit Shah, Shinde told media persons, “I met Union Home Minister Amit Shah along with all MPs. It was a goodwill meeting. There were also some issues of special interest that I raised during this meeting. I was in Delhi last week as well, but I did not meet him at that time. So, today I raised some issues related to MPs. Development-related projects being implemented by both the state government and the central government were also discussed. The parliamentary session is on in Delhi. I do not do any work in secret. I do everything in front of everyone”.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and Sena MLA Aaditya Thackeray arrived in Delhi on Wednesday for a three-day visit. Uddhav Thackeray landed at the Delhi airport around 3:30 pm, where he was received by Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP and chief party spokesperson Sanjay Raut, Arvind Sawant, Sanjay Dina Patil, and Anil Desai of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena.
Sources said that Uddhav Thackeray might attend a luncheon organised by NCP chief Sharad Pawar for the MPs from the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) on Wednesday. Uddhav Thackeray will also visit the Shiv Sena party office in Parliament, where PM Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other BJP leaders are likely to be present.
According to sources, Uddhav Thackeray is likely to have dinner with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday, before his scheduled meeting with leaders of the INDIA alliance on Thursday.
Ahead of the INDIA alliance meeting at Rahul Gandhi’s residence on August 7 (Thursday), Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut stated on Wednesday that key issues, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘lies’, the Pahalgam attack, Operation Sindoor, and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voters list in Bihar, will be discussed.
“On August 7, there is a meeting of the INDIA alliance. Rahul Gandhi has personally called up everyone and extended an invitation,” Raut said, adding that Uddhav Thackeray will be in Delhi until August 8 (Friday). “Uddhav Thackeray will be in Delhi till August 8. He will attend the INDIA alliance meeting and meet everyone. He will also visit our new party office at the Parliament premises.”
