The Maharashtra cabinet took important decisions on Tuesday to accelerate development works related to various departments as well as approved the setting up of eight courts in the state to strengthen the legal system.
Proposals related to the Agriculture Department, Law and Justice Department, Revenue Department, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department and Urban Development Department were discussed and approved at the cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
The cabinet approved the post of ‘Managing Director’ in the Office of Artificial Intelligence and Agritech Innovation Centre under the MahaAgri-AI Policy.
It has been decided to bring an ordinance to amend the Maharashtra Gram Panchayat Act, 1959 and the Maharashtra Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti Act, 1961 regarding extension of time for submission of validity certificate issued by the Caste Certificate Verification Committee by the candidate elected to the reserved seats of Gram Panchayat, Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti.
The cabinet decided that the authorised share capital of Mumbai Railway Development Corporation Limited will be increased from Rs 25 crore to Rs 500 crore. The paid-up share capital of the company will also be increased from Rs 25 crore to Rs 225 crore.
An amendment to Section 48 (7) of the Maharashtra Land Revenue Code, 1966 has been approved according to which a fine of ten times the ownership value for illegal mining and transportation of minor minerals will be levied.
The cabinet has given its approval to start 8 new courts to reduce the increasing pressure on the judiciary and speed up the process of getting justice to citizens.
Approval has been granted to establish exclusive special courts at Ahilyanagar, Parbhani, Solapur, Nanded and Yavatmal to hear cases filed under the Scheduled Castes/Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, as amended by Act, 2015.
The cabinet has approved the establishment of a special court at Pune to try cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS Act).
Approval has been granted to establish a District and Additional Sessions Court at Ahilyanagar, Karjat and to sanction necessary posts for the same.
The cabinet has also approved the establishment of a Civil Court (Junior Level) and a Judicial Magistrate First Class Court at Kurduwadi, Taluka Madha, Dist. Solapur and to sanction necessary posts for the same.
