Maharashtra Regional Congress Committee President Harshwardhan Sapkal accused the BJP of planning to start riots across India to win the 2029 elections. He said “training” for it has already started.
Speaking to the media at Tilak Bhawan here on Friday, Sapkal said, “The process of creating religious divide started soon after the results for the elections in five states came in. The riots in West Bengal are a precursor of the large-scale violence planned by the BJP.”
He said there is nothing surprising about the revelation as the BJP is doing everything to increase the Hindu-Muslim divide after elections in five states.
On the political developments in Tamil Nadu, Sapkal said the Congress high command made the decision to support Joseph Vijay’s TVK party in the situation that arose after the elections, after consulting with all local leaders and in-charges in Tamil Nadu. “Local leaders and workers were demanding an alliance with the TVK party before the elections. If such a decision had been taken at that time, more Congress MLAs would have been elected. However, the Congress is committed to an alliance with a party that fights to save democracy and the Constitution,” he added.
Responding to a question about corruption in the construction of toilets by the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, Sapkal said that due to corruption, the BJP has run out of space to construct toilets.
