Achieving yet another significant milestone in clean and green energy generation, Madhya Pradesh on Monday took a major step towards sustainable development with the inauguration of the 500 MW Neemuch Solar Park, which will supply electricity at Rs 2.14 per unit, the lowest solar power tariff in the country.

Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, along with Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi, inaugurated the 500 MW Neemuch Solar Park and the 450 MW Shajapur Solar Park at Neemuch.

Another 550 MW Agar Solar Park is under construction. Tariffs of ₹2.44 and ₹2.45 per unit have already been secured for its generating units.

Upon completion of these projects, Madhya Pradesh will further strengthen its position among India’s leading solar power-producing states while making a significant contribution towards the country’s goals of clean energy, environmental conservation, and sustainable development.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dr Yadav said green development is the State Government’s foremost priority. He said the government is working rapidly to attract greater investment through sustainable development while creating new employment opportunities.

He added that Madhya Pradesh has achieved self-reliance in power generation and is now moving towards becoming India’s leading state in clean, affordable, and sustainable energy.

The Chief Minister said Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ratlam, and Ujjain are emerging as new industrial growth centres in north-western Madhya Pradesh. “Neemuch is evolving not only as Madhya Pradesh’s green energy hub but also as the global capital of green power,” he said.

Dr Yadav further said that India’s largest pumped-storage project is being developed in Neemuch, further strengthening the district’s position as a major renewable energy hub. He informed that Neemuch already has an operational solar power capacity of 675 MW, while projects with a combined capacity of more than 1,952 MW are at various stages of construction.

Describing the inauguration of the Neemuch Solar Park as a historic milestone, the Chief Minister said it would supply electricity at the country’s lowest tariff.

He added that, in the presence of Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, Madhya Pradesh marked another significant achievement with the inauguration of the 500 MW Neemuch Solar Park and the 450 MW Shajapur Solar Park, developed at a total cost of Rs 2,080 crore.

The Chief Minister highlighted that Neemuch, already known for its agriculture, medicinal plants, and entrepreneurial spirit, is now emerging as a major hub for manufacturing, green energy, textiles, and food processing.

He said clean energy now accounts for 30 per cent of the State’s installed power generation capacity, with renewable energy capacity exceeding 12,018 MW. A 60 MW solar power plant, built at a cost of Rs 271.16 crore, has also been inaugurated at Jalud. At Maksi, Jackson Integrated Solar Limited is setting up a 6 GW state-of-the-art solar manufacturing facility, one of India’s largest green manufacturing units. The Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Park and the Omkareshwar Floating Solar Power Project continue to set national benchmarks in renewable energy.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said the inauguration of the Neemuch and Shajapur Solar Parks marked another milestone in India’s renewable energy journey, with Madhya Pradesh achieving the country’s lowest solar power tariff of Rs 2.14 per unit.

Describing it as another historic achievement, Joshi said India has become the second country in the world, after Switzerland, to achieve 100 per cent railway electrification. He added that Madhya Pradesh is also supplying electricity to the Indian Railways.
