Lucknow Military Intelligence and Ranchi Police have jointly busted a major gang involved in defrauding people of about Rs 1.2 crore by promising jobs in the Indian Army (MES), Railways, and various departments of the Central and State Governments.
Ranchi Police have arrested three accused identified as Chandan Kumar Singh, Gautam Kumar and Vinod (also known as Vinay) Chandra Singh. The main suspect, Abhishek Kumar, 21, from Patna, allegedly collected money from several aspirants by issuing forged appointment letters and fake official documents.
A case was registered at Kanke Police Station under multiple sections of the IPC. A Special Investigation Team was formed under the supervision of senior officers to probe the racket. The joint operation led to the recovery of forged documents, records of financial transactions and fake letters made to look like official communications from government departments.
Officials said Lucknow Military Intelligence played a key role in tracing the network, verifying documents and coordinating with Ranchi Police.
The arrests followed coordinated searches and questioning across several districts. The operation was led by DSP (Sadar) Sanjeev Kumar Verma with support from Bariatu Police Station officers Manoj Kumar and Sub-Inspector Bhanu Kumar Bharti. Police said more arrests could follow as the investigation continues.
Authorities have urged citizens to remain alert and to report any similar fraudulent job offers to the nearest police station.
