A Lieutenant Colonel and a junior commissioned officer were on Wednesday killed when a large boulder fell on the vehicles of a military convoy in Ladakh. Two army personnel, including an officer, were also injured in the incident, officials said.
The Ladakh-based Fire and Fury Corps of the Indian Army has identified the killed personnel as Lieutenant Colonel Bhanu Pratap Singh Mankotia and Lance Dafadar Daljit Singh.
“GOC, Fire and Fury Corps and All Ranks salute Lieutenant Colonel Bhanu Pratap Singh Mankotia and Lance Dafadar Daljit Singh, who made supreme sacrifice in the line of duty in Ladakh on 30 Jul 2025 and offer deep condolences to the bereaved families in this hour of grief,” the Army wrote on X.
Four Army personnel, including two officers, were critically injured when a large boulder fell on the vehicles of a military convoy in Ladakh.
The vehicle that was leading the convoy was badly damaged due to impact of the boulder. The injured personnel were rescued from the damaged vehicle by soldiers who were part of the convoy, reports said.
The Lt Colonel and three others were travelling in the ill-fated vehicle when the mishap occurred near Leh.
The Ladakh based Fire and Fury Corps of the Indian Army earlier said “A boulder from a cliff fell on one of the vehicles of a military convoy in Ladakh, around 1130h on 30 Jul 2025. Recovery action is in progress”.
The convoy was on move from Durbuk to Chongtas. The Army personnel belonged to the 60 Armored regiment, reports said.
