The deadlock in the Lok Sabha during the Monsoon Session of Parliament is likely to end on Tuesday, July 28, with the House scheduled to take up a discussion on the anti-paper leak Bill tabled today.
According to sources, floor leaders of all political parties, including the ruling BJP and the principal Opposition Congress, have agreed to a discussion in the Lok Sabha on the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026.
“On the initiative of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, floor leaders of all political parties have agreed to hold a discussion in the Lok Sabha on the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 on Tuesday, July 28,” ANI quoted sources as saying.
The sources further stated that the Congress will take part in the discussion and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi will speak on the Bill.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra can also be among the speakers from the Congress camp, with a total of 8 hours being allotted for the discussion.
However, a final strategy of the Opposition will be finalised at an Opposition floor leaders’ meeting likely to be held on Tuesday morning in Parliament.
The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, was introduced by the government following a massive students’ movement at Jantar Mantar.
The movement, spearheaded by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), was also supported by activist Sonam Wangchuk, who had observed a 26-day hunger strike, demanding Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation over paper leaks.
A discussion in Parliament was also among Wangchuk’s demands that were accepted by the government.
Pradhan also tendered his resignation, and Pralhad Joshi was given the additional charge of the Education Ministry.
