Less than 6 hours left: Rahul Gandhi reminds FM Arun Jaitley of his ‘deadline’ on Rafale deal

Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday reminded Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely of the time left to set up a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to probe the Rafale deal.

The Congress chief had on Wednesday demanded that the Centre should form a JPC to probe the ‘Great Rafale Robbery’ and gave Jaitley 24 hours to ‘check and revert’ on the same.

In a tweet posted on Thursday at 12:12 pm, Rahul Gandhi said young India was waiting for a decision on a joint parliamentary committee on the Rafale deal.

“Dear Mr Jaitley, Less than 6 hrs left for your deadline on the #Rafale JPC to run out. Young India is waiting. I hope you’re busy convincing (Prime Minister Narendra) Modiji and Anil Ambaniji about why they should listen to you and approve this (JPC)!,” the Congress chief tweeted.


Meanwhile, hundreds of Indian Youth Congress (IYC) workers on Thursday staged a protest against the Centre over the Rafale fighter air craft deal in Delhi.

Leaders and activists from several state units gathered outside All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters and is scheduled to take out protest march towards toward Prime Minister’s residence later in the day.

In view of protest march, heavy police deployment has been made near the Congress headquarters at Akbar Road.

Police have barricaded the area to stop IYC leaders and workers from marching towards the PM’s residence. Around fifty workers were detained and taken to Mandir Marg and Tughlak Road police stations, police said.
