The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has allegedly been involved in shooting incidents at three separate locations across Canada.
According to social media posts associated with the gang, the attacks were reportedly carried out in retaliation against a man named Navi Tesi, who allegedly extorted ₹50 lakh from singers by using the names of Goldy Dhillon and Lawrence Bishnoi.
The incidents have highlighted the gang’s strong presence in Canada. A video circulating on social media shows a masked man firing bullets at multiple locations.
In the footage, he is first seen shooting from inside a car, followed by scenes of him firing while standing in the middle of the road. No deaths or injuries have been reported in connection with the attacks.
The shootings were reportedly carried out at three locations, including Navi Tesi’s residence and business premises. Fateh Portugal, an associate of the Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the attacks in a social media post.
He warned that anyone attempting to extort money using the names of Lawrence Bishnoi or Goldy Dhillon would face similar consequences.
In his post, Fateh Portugal wrote, “Navi Tesi extorted ₹5 million from singers using Lawrence Bishnoi’s name. That’s why we took action. If anyone’s life or business is affected, it’s their own responsibility. Our intentions are not wrong, even if our methods seem extreme.”
The incident occurred shortly after Canadian authorities officially designated the Lawrence Bishnoi gang as a terrorist organization, a classification that allows stricter legal measures, asset freezes, and expanded investigations into its overseas operations.
Law enforcement agencies in both Canada and India are reportedly keeping a close watch on the situation, given the gang’s history of cross-border criminal activity.
The Bishnoi gang has been linked to several violent incidents and extortion cases involving members of the Punjabi diaspora in Canada. However, officers are investigating whether the recent shootings are part of a larger pattern of retaliatory violence.
Recently, comedian Kapil Sharma’s Kap’s Cafe in Surrey, Canada, was also targeted by the gang.
“The shooting reportedly occurred over missed phone calls, with assailants firing about half a dozen bullets at the café. The entire incident was captured on camera,” an officer confirmed.
