Dramatic video of Kishtwar flash floods triggered by cloudburst emerges – WATCH

Kishtwar cloudburst

A massive cloudburst hit Chishoti village in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, causing flash floods that destroyed houses, vehicles, and makeshift shelters. At least 60 people have died, over 100 are injured, and many are still missing.

Dramatic videos shared online show water gushing through the area, pilgrims of the Machail Mata Yatra running for safety, and people crying and shouting as floods swept away everything in their path.

Families say around 75 people are missing, though locals fear the real number could be much higher, with many trapped under debris, boulders, and logs.

Among the victims are two CISF personnel and a Special Police Officer. Rescue teams have so far pulled out 167 people, including 38 in critical condition.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said he had spoken to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, who assured full support from the Centre.

The floods damaged at least 16 houses and government buildings, three temples, four water mills, a 30-metre bridge, and more than a dozen vehicles.
