In a show of operational efficiency, Khurda Road Division of East Coast Railway (ECoR) has achieved its best-ever loading performance, continuing to lead the freight movement across Indian Railways.

The Rail Division has once again emerged as the top-performing division in overall traffic handling, achieving a phenomenal 183 million tonnes up to October 2025 — comprising 101 million tonnes of loading and 82 million tonnes of unloading, said ECoR officials on Monday.

Bilaspur Division stands second with 148 million tonnes, followed by Dhanbad (132 MT) and Chakradharpur (127 MT), reaffirming Khurda Road Division’s leadership position in freight operations.

For the first time in its history, the Division achieved 100 million tonnes of loading in just 213 days (as on 30.10.2025) — the fastest ever for Khurda Road Division.

The previous best was 234 days achieved during 2024–25 (as on 20.11.2024). This milestone marks a new benchmark of operational excellence and efficiency.

The Division recorded an all-time high 14.52 million tonnes of loading during October 2025, surpassing all previous records

This is the first time the Division’s monthly loading has crossed the 14-million-tonne mark in October.

Despite the challenges posed by Cyclone Monthana and heavy rainfall, Khurda Road Division maintained uninterrupted freight movement, with several terminals achieving record-breaking figures.

This achievement is a result of the dedicated efforts of operating and commercial teams, coordination with stakeholders, and proactive leadership under the East Coast Railway administration. Continuous monitoring, efficient rake management, and customer-oriented logistics support have ensured this record-breaking performance.
