A total of nine police personnel, including the Station House Officer(SHO) of the Khoh Nagauriya police station, have been suspended for dereliction of duty following the fire outbreak at a cracker factory godown that took a toll of eight human lives on Tuesday.
The stern action was taken on Wednesday by Jaipur Police Commissioner Sachin Mittal against the SHO and eight others. The Commissioner said, “Illegally running the cracker factory and godown in such a residential locality is serious negligence on the part of the police and officials from other concerned departments.”
He also formed a team, led by Additional Police Commissioner Ajay Singh, to investigate the circumstances and cause of the tragic fire.
Meanwhile, at least one more such factory has been found and sealed by the cops and suspicious activities were stopped at a couple of locations, a police spokesman said.
The fire reportedly broke out around 11:15 a.m. in the section where crackers produced at the nearby factory were being stored.
