As the harvest festival of Onam comes to a close, prominent Congress leaders extended warm wishes to the people of India, particularly the Malayali community, on this joyous occasion.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said, “Onam is a celebration of life, hope, our legendary past, and diverse secular traditions. May its spirit of harvest and renewal, and the purity of the Onam Sadhya, inspire togetherness, prosperity, and fraternity for all. Happy Onam”

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Rae Bareli MP Rahul Gandhi wrote in a post on X, “Best wishes to everyone on Onam! May this festive season bring happiness, peace, and prosperity to all.”

Extending wishes to people of the country, Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, “May Onam’s spirit of love, compassion, and unity fill your home and heart. Wishing you and your loved ones a peaceful and joyous Onam!”

Onam is one of the most significant festivals in Indian culture, especially in Kerala, where it is celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm. The festival commemorates the homecoming of King Mahabali and marks the beginning of the Malayali New Year. It is a time for families to come together, share traditional meals, and celebrate the spirit of unity and togetherness.

During Onam, homes are decorated with vibrant flower rangolis called Pookalam, traditional feasts known as Onam Sadya are prepared, and people participate in cultural events such as boat races and dance performances. The festival is a celebration of life, love, and prosperity, marked by a strong sense of community.
