Kharge expresses condolences over Vaishno Devi landslide tragedy

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge Wednesday expressed his deepest condolences to families of the victims who lost their lives in the recent landslide incident on the Mata Vaishno Devi route in Jammu and Kashmir. At least 32 people have died, and several others were injured in the tragedy triggered by heavy rains.

“The news of the death of 32 people due to heavy rains and landslides on the Mata Vaishno Devi route in Jammu and Kashmir is extremely heartbreaking. I express my deepest condolences to all the affected families and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured,” he said in a post on handle X.

Kharge also highlighted that several states, including Jammu-Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh, are grappling with heavy rains and flood-like situations. The Congress government and administration teams in Himachal Pradesh are actively engaged in relief and rescue operations, demonstrating their readiness to respond to the crisis.

In light of the situation, he urged Congress leaders and workers in the affected states to provide every possible assistance to the victims. “In this difficult situation, I expect the Congress leaders and workers in all these states to provide every possible help to the victims,” he emphasized.

The Vaishno Devi landslide has led to disruptions in pilgrimage activities, with authorities working to ensure the safety of devotees and manage the relief efforts effectively.
