A Pune court on Friday, July 3, remanded Siya Goyal and her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary to 14 days of judicial custody in connection with the murder of Ketan Agarwal.

Insiders told IANS that investigators had sought additional police custody for three days and told the court that a face-to-face interrogation of both the accused needs to be conducted. Further, they told the court that multiple chats and other digital evidence are yet to be recovered and examined.

However, the court in Vadgaon remanded the two of them to judicial custody after their police custody ended on Thursday.

This comes after the court had granted police seven days of custody that was later extended by four more days to enable investigators to question the accused on 18 key aspects of the case.

Siya and Chetan have now undergone intensive interrogation for a total of 11 days.

Also, the Pune Rural Police have approached the court to seek permission to conduct polygraph tests on both the accused. Officials said the court will first issue notices in connection with this and later record the consent of the accused before deciding on the request.

Siya and Chetan have been accused of pushing Ketan Agarwal to death from a cliff at Lohagad Fort in Pune district on June 18. Siya and Ketan were expected to get married in November this year.
