The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committe(KPCC) on Sunday asked the party leaders and workers to avoid unnecessary criticism  against MP Sashi Tharoor
The KPCC  political affairs committee, which met here on Sunday, took serious note of the controversy sparked  over the Thiruvananthapuram MP’s recent programmes in the state and said such controversies should have been avoided.

Many speakers in the meeting opined that Tharoor has not spoken anything against the party so far and that he has a completely secular mind.

Meanwhile, the Youth Congress  Kannur District Committee, on Sunday  passed a resolution in support of Shashi Tharoor. In its resolution, the youth Congress urged the party leaders in the state to change their `syndrome’ of not letting others to grow.

Stating that any restriction would never end public support for a popular leader and that it was unfair to impose ban on any leader, who can attract the youths in Kerala.

According to sources, the Congress leadership have instructed the Youth Congress not to conduct any programme with the participation of Sashi Tharoor.

Following this, the Youth Congress, has backed out  from a seminar titled ‘Sangh Parivar and the challenges faced  by Indian secularism’ to be held in Kozhikode.

Despite resistance, Tharoor’s Malabar tour was a grand  success, where he demonstrated to the party that he was s not a Congress leader with no grassroots backing, as some leaders in Congress  in the state think.

Shashi Tharoor has completed the next leg of his tour in central Kerala in December first week , attending various events and meeting Catholic Bishops.
Hundreds of grassroots-level party workers attended his crowded programmes in Kottayam, where he opened a mega meet of the Youth Congress.
