Amid reports that scores of tourists from Kerala are stranded in the violence-hit Nepal, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has written to Union External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar, seeking his intervention to ensure the safety of the Keralite tourists stranded in Nepal and bring them back to the country.
Vjayan, in his letter to the EAM, said tourist groups , including senior citizens above 65 years of age, are stranded in Nepal and are now in an area where violence is taking place in the wake of the ‘Gen Z’ protests.
He has written to the EAM against the backdrop of reports that scores of tourists from Kerala are stranded in the violence-hit Nepal, as airlines have started cancelling flights amid road blockades in the Himalayan country due to the ongoing anti-government protests.
Stating that it would be extremely difficult for them to stay there , Chief Minister Vijayan urged the Union minister to take urgent steps to bring them back to the country safely by providing travelling facilities. He pointed out that the Central government will have all the support and cooperation of Kerala in bringing the stranded tourists back to the country.
