The verbal duel between Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Leader of the Opposition V D Satheesan on RSS connections has escalated significantly, primarily centered on accusations of a covert “nexus” or “deal” between the CPM-led LDF government and the BJP/RSS, with the former sharing a 2006 photograph on Thursday showing the latter (V D Satheesan) inaugurating the Guru Golwalkar’s birth centenary celebrations in his Paravur constituency, and asking for a clarification on the “deal” involved.
Sharing the photograph of Satheesan at an RSS event on his Facebook page, Vijayan said the people of secular Kerala have the right to know Satheesan’s response regarding his participation in the 2006 Madhav Sadashiv Golwalkar centenary celebration in his Paravur constituency. He challenged Satheesan to clarify what “deal” existed that led him to attend this RSS event at Manakkapady School in his Paravur constituency. “Leader of the Opposition V D Satheesan should clarify what “deal” led him to attend as the inaugurator, bow before Golwalkar’s photograph, and light the ceremonial lamp,” he demanded.
Responding to the criticism made by Pinarayi Vijayan over his participation in the 2006 Madhav Sadashiv Golwalkar centenary celebrations, Satheesan said the Chief Minister’s constant statement that it was the CPM that fought the RSS and that the Congress had no role in it would be rejected with contempt by the people of Kerala who know history. “The people of Kerala who know history will reject with contempt Pinarayi Vijayan’s statement that the CPM fought the RSS and that the Congress had no role in it,” he said in a Facebook post on Thursday
Calling Pinarayi Vijayan a “perfect RSS agent”, Satheesan said he (CM Vijayan ) is the one who sent a top police official (ADGP) as a messenger to RSS leaders to protect himself and his family from central agency investigations. “The MLA who contested in the assembly with the support of the RSS in 1977 is Pinarayi Vijayan, not VD Satheesan. Wasn’t RSS leader KG Marar the joint CPM-RSS candidate in Uduma at that time? Don’t forget that the picture of the same KG Marar pinning a badge to EMS is still available, “ he further said in his Facebook post.
“Will Pinarayi Vijayan deny that senior BJP leader LK Advani attended the campaign event of CPM candidate Sivadasa Menon who contested in Palakkad? If you search Google, you will find pictures of CPM leaders EMS, Jyoti Basu, Advani and Vajpayee supporting VP Singh to overthrow the Congress in 1989. Pinarayi Vijayan says that he has never made peace with the RSS at any stage and has tried to isolate communalism by hiding all these revolutionary traditions,” Satheesan wrote in the post.
It was Pinarayi Vijayan, not V D Satheesan, who left his official vehicle and held talks with RSS leaders at the Mascot Hotel in Thiruvananthapuram in a private vehicle under the mediation of Shri M. “The Congress’s fight against the Sangh Parivar does not need Pinarayi Vijayan’s study class. It seems that the CPM in Kerala does not need it either. We have more pictures in our hands than the Chief Minister,” the Opposition leader further wrote in the post.
