Telangana Jagruthi president and MLC K Kavitha on Friday sent legal notices to her former party colleague and BRS MLA M Krishna Rao and BJP MLA A Maheshwar Rao over comments made by them alleging corruption against her husband. While denying that she was backed by the Congress, Kavitha claimed that the BJP MLA had been provoked by her cousin and senior BRS leader T Harish Rao, and it proved that the two parties were in cahoots.
The legal notices to the BRS and BJP MLAs, as well as the television channel, which is the mouthpiece of BRS, were sent in the name of Kavitha’s husband, Dr Anil Kumar. The MLC denied claims that her husband had business dealings with government land and said that the allegations were levelled against her deliberately to malign her image. All three notices called upon the recipients to issue an unconditional public apology within seven days, threatening them with legal proceedings for criminal defamation otherwise. “My husband never did any business on government lands. His business was entirely over private land. There is no connection between my husband and the land near IDPL,” declared Kavitha.
She even said she will probe all irregularities from 2014 if she comes to power. “By God’s grace, I will become the chief minister. On that day, I will bring out all the scams that have happened since 2014,” said Kavitha, who was expelled from BRS a few months ago by her father and former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. Attacking her brother KT Rama Rao, she said during his tenure as industries minister, he had approved the conversion of industrial land in Hyderabad for commercial and residential use for the benefit of private individuals. According to her, BRS had opened the windows for the conversion of industrial land, and the Congress has now opened the doors. She alleged the kin of BRS MLA M Krishna Rao, who even abused her recently, were involved in a real estate project that has encroached on a lake and cut off public access. She also said the two BRS and BJP MLAs were being used as proxies by her cousin T Harish Rao to malign her.
