Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday said that a disciplinary action will be taken against state DGP K Ramachandra Rao after purported videos of him with a woman went viral on social media.
“The matter came to light this morning. We will take disciplinary action against him. No matter how tall someone is, we will investigate and take action; no one is above the law,” Siddaramaiah told reporters in Belagavi.
His remarks came after purported videos of DGP Rao showing objectionable conduct with a woman inside his office went viral on social media.
The videos purportedly showed Ramachandra Rao engaging in intimate behaviour with a woman inside his official chamber.
In one such video clip, he is seen kissing the woman while seated in uniform at his office. The woman in the video didn’t appear to resist his behaviour.
The videos were reportedly recorded a year ago. However, it is not yet clear who recorded them.
According to reports, Siddaramaiah has directed the Home Department to submit a report on the matter.

‘Videos are manipulated,’ claims DGP Rao
Meanwhile, Rao has claimed that the videos are “manipulated” and that no such incident has taken place.
“These are manipulated videos. No such incident has taken place. I will discuss the matter with my advocate and take a decision in this regard,” he told reporters in Bengaluru.
Rao had reportedly gone to the office of Home Minister G. Parameshwara to offer a clarification after the videos surfaced.
However, the minister conveyed through a staff member that he would not be able to meet him, following which the DGP left.
