The data, collected from the Ministry of Urban development, shows that the Congress government gave 1,100 per cent more funds to Karnataka’s cities as compared to the BJP-NDA government.

The picture mentions that while the Congress provided was Rs 6,570 crore urban infrastructure funds to Karnataka, BJP gave only Rs 598 crore for the same.

Sharing the picture from his official Twitter handle, Rahul Gandhi wrote, “Dear PM, Calling Bengaluru, the garden city and the pride of India a “garbage city” is insulting. Building lies comes naturally to you, but you seem to find building cities very difficult. The data nails your lies.”

On Thursday, PM Modi launched a stinging attack on the Karnataka government saying that the state government has turned Bengaluru into a garbage city.

“Bengaluru was admired as the garden city, but Karnataka government is wanting to turn this into a garbage city. They are showing no concern for the city’s needs,” he said.

“The youth in Karnataka turned Bengaluru to a Silicon Valley, but the Congress government turned it into a valley of sin,” Modi said at an election rally on the city outskirts in poll-bound Karnataka.

Of the 224 Assembly segments, the city has the largest 28 seats. Assembly elections in Karnataka will be held on May 12 and votes will be counted on May 15.
