In a significant political development in Kerala, AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal has leveled serious allegations against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, claiming the existence of a “secret deal” between the CPM and the BJP.

In an open letter addressed to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Venugopal posed ten pressing questions, accusing him of secret agreements with BJP leaders and highlighting controversial meetings with key figures, such as Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

Venugopal on Tuesday released the open letter to Pinarayi Vijayan, raising a string of allegations and questions over the LDF government’s functioning, on the day election campaigning was to be ended ahead of the polling for the April 9 assembly elections.

The AICC general secretary suggests a quid pro quo where Central agencies have allegedly slowed down investigations into various cases involving the state government in exchange for political concessions.

Among the issues flagged by Venugopal are Vijayan’s meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his residence in New Delhi with no officials present, and a breakfast meeting hosted for Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at Kerala House, questioning the agenda and purpose behind such interactions.

Questioning the state government’s intent to implement the PM SHRI scheme against CPI’s opposition, he expressed skepticism over the handling of several corruption cases, implying a disturbing alliance between the state and BJP.

Venugopal alleged that the repeated adjournments in the SNC-Lavalin case — linked to Vijayan — suggest a deal with the Centre, questioning if political positions are being compromised.

The letter also highlighted the gold and dollar smuggling cases involving the Chief Minister’s former principal secretary, alleging that central agencies stalled the investigation, and requested an update on the state-appointed Justice V K Mohanan Commission.

Furthermore, he sought clarification regarding the current status of the Exalogic case, the Kodakara hawala case, and the Enforcement Directorate’s notice against the Chief Minister’s son.
