The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has indicated it may reassess its alliances in Jharkhand following tensions within the Bihar Mahagathbandhan. Speaking at a press conference in the party office here, JMM national secretary Suprio Bhattacharya said the party “cannot be continuously short-changed” and would protect its political dignity.
Bhattacharya outlined the party’s Bihar strategy, announcing that JMM will field six candidates in Chakai, Dhamdaha, Katoria, Manihari, Jamui, and Pirpainti. He noted that talks with coalition partners, particularly the RJD and Congress, over seat allocation have yet to yield clear commitments.
Recalling the party’s cooperation with the RJD in 2019, when a JMM-backed RJD legislator served as minister for five years, Bhattacharya emphasised that JMM expects reciprocal respect in the current elections.
JMM has also named 20 star campaigners for Bihar, including Chief Minister Hemant Soren and MLA Kalpana Soren, with the list submitted to the Election Commission. Bhattacharya said the party aims to secure victories for all six of its candidates in the upcoming polls.
