To sharpen response capabilities in high-risk security situations, personnel of the Special Operations Group (SOG) Jammu and National Security Guard (NSG) underwent specialised training in intervention tactics, hostage rescue operations, bomb disposal equipment handling, counter-drone measures and live firing during the week-long “Shakti Sangam” exercise that concluded here on Saturday. The programme also emphasised the effective use of force multipliers and night vision devices to improve mission effectiveness in diverse operational environments.
The Joint Training Exercise, “Shakti Sangam,” was conducted jointly by the SOG Jammu and the NSG from 8 to 13 June.
The exercise was designed to enhance operational preparedness, strengthen inter-agency coordination, and improve response capabilities against evolving security threats. During the training programme, personnel underwent rigorous and specialised modules covering a wide spectrum of counter-terrorism and tactical operations, police said.
Key areas of training included Intervention Tactics, Hostage Rescue Operations, employment of Force Multipliers, handling and deployment of Bomb Disposal Equipment, Counter-Drone Measures, use of Night Vision Devices (NVDs), and Live Firing Practices. The participants also engaged in scenario-based exercises aimed at improving real-time decision-making and coordinated response during critical incidents.
The joint exercise provided a valuable platform for personnel of SOG Jammu and NSG to exchange expertise, share best practices, and enhance interoperability in conducting complex security operations. The training emphasised seamless coordination, precision, and adaptability in addressing contemporary security challenges.
Senior officers overseeing the exercise appreciated the dedication, professionalism, and enthusiasm displayed by the participating personnel. They highlighted that such collaborative training initiatives are essential for maintaining a high state of operational readiness and ensuring an effective response to emerging threats.
