Jharkhand Police intensify anti-Naxal drive

Jharkhand DGP Tadasa Mishra on Saturday chaired a high-level review meeting on crime and law and order, focusing on anti-Naxal operations and intelligence-based policing.

At the meeting held at the state police headquarters, the DGP directed officers to intensify operations against extremists and expand awareness of the state’s surrender policy. Monitoring of extremists released on bail was also ordered.

Senior officers were asked to maintain pressure in affected districts while facilitating the rehabilitation of those willing to surrender under existing policy provisions.

The DGP stressed strengthening the intelligence network. He directed officials to bolster informer systems and enhance digital surveillance for real-time inputs and swift action.

Cybercrime trends were reviewed along with conventional crimes.

The meeting also assessed cases of murder, robbery, dacoity, theft, rape, POCSO offences and cybercrime. Officers were instructed to expedite the investigation of pending cases and act firmly against organised criminal gangs.

The DGP ordered a review of cases related to levy collection, arson, threats and vandalism. Directions were issued to arrest the absconding accused and initiate property attachment and reward declaration where required.

Zonal Inspectors General and Deputy Inspectors General were directed to supervise compliance and review extremist-related cases at their level.

Senior officials, including the Additional Director General (Operations), Additional Director General (Special Branch), Inspector General, CRPF, Ranchi Sector, attended the meeting. Superintendents of Police from sensitive districts joined through video conference.
