Jharkhand Police have reported a series of operations between January and September 2025 targeting Maoist activity, cybercrime, and organized criminal networks. The campaign resulted in the recovery of 157 weapons, the killing of 32 Maoist operatives, arrests of 266 key cadres, and the freezing of ₹7.42 crore in cyber fraud, officials said.
According to Dr. Michaelraj S., IG (Ops), Police Headquarters, the recovered weapons included 58 firearms looted from security forces, 20 regular arms, and 68 country-made guns. Police also seized and neutralized 228 improvised explosive devices, recovered ₹39.53 lakh in extorted levies, and destroyed 37 Maoist bunkers across the state. Thirty Maoists surrendered voluntarily during this period, including notable figures from Latehar district.
Key arrests included Ravindra Ganjhu alias Akram Ganju, RCM (TSPC), ₹15 lakh bounty; Ranvijay Mahato, RCM (Mao), ₹15 lakh; Kundan Kherwar alias Sudhir Singh, ZCM (Mao), ₹10 lakh; and Krishna Yadav alias Tufan/Sultan, AC (PLFI), ₹2 lakh. Police reported 32 fatalities in encounters with Maoists, including high-value targets Vivek alias Prayag Manjhi and Anuj alias Sahdev Soren, each with a ₹1 crore bounty. Officials said these operations contributed to a decline in Maoist activity in districts including Latehar, Gumla, and Bokaro.
Cyber crime investigations in August and September led to 4,281 complaints through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal and helpline 1930. Police arrested 105 suspects, seized 139 mobile phones, 166 SIM cards, 60 ATM cards, 15 passbooks, 11 checkbooks, two laptops, three motorcycles, and cash of ₹2.81 lakh. Financial interventions froze ₹7.42 crore, with ₹37.28 lakh returned to victims. The Pratibimb app enabled reporting of three cases and eight arrests, demonstrating the growing role of technology in policing.
Organized crime operations included the extradition of Sunil Kumar alias Mayank Singh, a key figure in the Aman Sahu gang, from Azerbaijan. Drug and contraband seizures included 153 kg ganja and 523 liters of illicit alcohol in Bokaro, 700 g opium and 358 kg doda in Khunti, and Rs 47 lakh worth of illegal pan-masala in Simdega. Urban theft and burglary cases led to recovery of cash, gold, silver, vehicles, and firearms across Ranchi, Jamshedpur, and Godda.
Between August and September, police executed 12,651 warrants, arrested 4,186 individuals, and seized 413 vehicles, 136 weapons, and 1,221 rounds of ammunition. ITSSO investigations resolved 297 cases within 60 days. Dr. Michaelraj S. emphasized that multi-pronged operations combining counter-insurgency, cyber intelligence, and local crime monitoring remain central to maintaining law and order.
