Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar on Tuesday inaugurated new diagnostic facilities at AIIMS Deoghar, including a 1000 mA X-ray machine, a 128-slice CT scan unit and a cardiac catheterisation laboratory, while addressing the institute’s sixth annual day. He said the 750-bed super-speciality hospital, spread across 270 acres, has already served over seven lakh patients through its OPD, attracting people from Jharkhand, Bihar and West Bengal, and is fast emerging as a centre of advanced healthcare, education and research.

The Governor recalled President Droupadi Murmu’s presence at the institute’s first convocation in July, calling it a moment of pride for Jharkhand and a pledge of service for graduating students. He told young doctors that the white coat symbolised compassion and duty, and urged them to uphold sensitivity and dedication as the institute’s true identity.

Describing AIIMS Deoghar as “a temple of humanity and compassion,” Gangwar stressed that a doctor’s words and patience can be as healing as medicine. He said the institute embodies Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas and would play a key role in building Viksit Bharat @ 2047.

Highlighting its social responsibility, he noted that the institute has undertaken health awareness drives, adopted villages under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, and promoted Jan Aushadhi Kendras. He expressed confidence that in the coming years AIIMS Deoghar would rank among the country’s leading medical institutions, reducing the need for patients from Jharkhand to travel to metropolitan cities for specialised care.
