Sleuths of the Military Intelligence and the Rajasthan Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) have detained a woman allegedly linked to the terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) as a sleeper cell operative.

A police spokesperson said here that the suspected JeM operative, Babita Dhakad, was reportedly associated with the terrorist organisation and had been in contact with JeM handlers through social media platforms.

The woman was taken into custody by ATS officials from a village in Jaipur Rural following a tip-off received from Military Intelligence.

She is a resident of Sawai Madhopur district and was allegedly drawn into JeM’s anti-national activities after being subjected to intensive indoctrination.

Attempts were also reportedly made to convert her religion, police sources said, adding that she was likely planning a visit to Pakistan.

A special team comprising officers from Military Intelligence and the Rajasthan ATS has been constituted to interrogate her. Her formal arrest will be effected based on the findings and disclosures emerging from the joint interrogation.
