A 28-year-old doctor died after a Chinese kite string slit his throat while he was riding a motorcycle in Jaunpur on Wednesday. The incident took place at around 12:30 pm near Prasad Chauraha in the Line Bazar police station area.
The victim, identified as Dr. Sameer Hashmi, a resident of Kerakat, was returning home when a sharp Chinese manjha got entangled around his neck. The string caused a deep cut, reportedly reaching the neck bone, leading to severe bleeding.
When Dr. Hashmi fell on the road and was unable to move, locals immediately informed emergency services and rushed him to the district hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Police reached the spot after receiving information and sent the body for post-mortem examination. The matter is being investigated.
Dr. Sameer Hashmi was the youngest of four brothers. His father, Mukim, said he had completed his medical education from Uttarakhand and was running a clinic in Kerakat. He practiced general medicine and also treated bone-related ailments.
