A vigilant deputy commissioner of Kathua, Rohit Khajuria, has prevented an illegal transfer of state’s land worth more than Rs 50 crore to a certain influential people by changing the title of the prime land.
Khajuria has now ordered the transfer of the 113-acre land to the SICOP of the state government for setting up an industrial estate.
It is learnt that some officials of the revenue department had changed the entries of the land as private land.

After thoroughly checking the records, Khajuria has ordered expunging of the false entries of the prime land.
Now the land will be transferred to the Industries and Commerce department and no money will be paid to private parties who were demanding compensation.
A lot of political pressure was mounted on officers to issue the award and pay compensation to the private persons who had grabbed the government land, sources said.
The fraud came to notice of the authorities when the Industries Department sought to acquire a piece of land for setting up an industrial estate in Kathua.
