Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, is currently abuzz with the enthusiasm of Scouts and Cadets from various countries around the world. After a wait of 61 years, the 19th National Jamboree, held here on Wednesday, has transformed the state into a global youth platform.
Inaugurated by the governor on November 24, the Jamboree was will continue till November 29, when President Draupadi Murmu is likely to grace the occassion.
On Tuesday evening, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attended the Jamboree and encouraged the young cadets to dedicate themselves to the nation.
Officials said over 33,000 Scouts, Guides, Rovers, and Rangers from various states, along with over 1,500 youth delegates from the Asia Pacific region, including Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Saudi Arabia, are participating in the event. The Defense Expo Grounds have been transformed into vast camps, kitchens, and activity areas, exuding excitement and joy.
The Diamond Jubilee celebrations are being patronized by top leadership, including the Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, further enhancing its prestige. Under his leadership, the state has made this international event an unprecedented success through efficient management and visionary planning.
A highlight of the event was the security and technology exhibition stall set up by the Uttar Pradesh Police, where young scouts were introduced to crime prevention technology, firefighting techniques, and the capabilities of commandos and anti-terrorism squads. This experience fostered a new understanding of security structures in the minds of youth. Under the guidance of Adityanath, the state’s focus on women’s empowerment and youth-friendly policies was also reflected in the security and technology exhibition stall set up by the Uttar Pradesh Police at the Jamboree.
In the same vein, sessions on women’s safety and rights were also held under Mission Shakti, providing information on self-defense, cybersecurity, and legal procedures. The role of women’s helpdesks at police stations was highlighted, symbolizing the state’s commitment to women’s safety.
The Indian tradition of “Atithi Devo Bhava” comes alive as soon as one steps into the Jamboree premises. The participating Scouts celebrate diversity with the aroma of traditional cuisine, the tunes of folk songs, and the charm of colorful costumes. The opening ceremony captivated everyone with a drone show, a grand parade, and cultural performances showcasing Uttar Pradesh’s heritage. It was not just a platform for celebration, but also conveyed a message of balance between historical glory and modernity.
The Jamboree was a confluence of youthful energy that not only fostered cultural interaction but also highlighted future possibilities. Presentations on recruitment opportunities in the Uttar Pradesh Police, Prosecution Department, Security Department, and Special Task Force instilled a sense of service and leadership in the youth.
During the event, young people from different countries and states are forging friendships and understanding each other’s traditions and lifestyles, creating a shared human experience beyond borders. The warmth with which Uttar Pradesh has hosted this global event reflects the spirit of not only the state but the entire nation.
