In the latest update in the Ketan Agarwal murder case, it has been revealed that the victim earlier asked his father about his fiancee and primary accused, Siya Goyal’s background verification, since he suspected her of having an alleged “affair” over her frequent mentions of co-accused Chetan Chaudhary.
Ketan’s father Vishal Agarwal’s statement recorded in the FIR revealed that Narendra Mittal brought Siya’s marriage proposal to their family, stating that she was his brother-in-law’s daughter, IANS reported.
Earlier, it was reported that Goyal and Agarwal families were related to each other. Notably, the link between the two sides was Mittal, whose sister was married to Praveen Goyal, making him the maternal uncle of Siya, as well as the cousin of Vishal Agarwal.
Considering the existing family relationship, the Agarwal family is believed to have agreed to the marriage. After seeing Siya, they liked her, while their engagement ceremony was held in February at Pune’s Bund Garden.
According to reports, soon after the engagement, Ketan is believed to have asked his father whether he had thoroughly verified Siya’s background. He was allegedly assured by the family that Mittal had checked everything and that there was nothing to worry about.
Sources told IANS that Ketan accepted his father’s assurance and decided to remain silent.
When the family was gearing up to visit Indonesia for a pre-wedding shoot from the Mumbai Airport, it came to light that Ketan’s passport went missing. This incident prompted Ketan to again question his father about Siya.
Insiders have claimed that Ketan informed his father that Siya frequently picked fights over minor issues and questioned whether her background had really been verified.
However, this time again the family reassured him and said that Siya’s family was related to them.
Ketan raised his concerns for the third time when they came back from the Lohagad Fort, where they earlier paid a visit in May.
Police sources told IANS that this time too Ketan asked his father whether he was certain that Siya’s background had been properly checked.
Ketan is said to have informed his family that whenever he called Siya, her phone was often busy. Further, he mentioned that whenever she was with him, she frequently used to talk to Chetan Chaudhary.
He then asked his father, “Is Siya having an affair?”
