Intern’l Trade Show from Sept 25 to 29: UP’s 66 GI-tagged products to be displayed

The Yogi Adityanath government is going to give an international platform to the rich heritage of art and handicrafts of Uttar Pradesh by organising the UP International Trade Show at India Expo Centre and Mart, Greater Noida, from September 25 to 29.

In this trade show, the GI products of the state with geographical indication will be the centre of special attraction. This will not only be a symbol of the cultural prosperity of the state, but it will also be considered an important step towards making the state a 1 trillion dollar economy. A research report prepared by PHDCCI on Uttar Pradesh indicates that the state is poised to become a USD 1 trillion economy.

The world will see 32 GI tagged products showing the rich heritage of handicrafts of Kashi and the surrounding areas, and the skill of handicraftsmen.

A separate pavilion will be arranged in the International Trade Show for the exhibition of GI products. There are a total of 77 GI-tagged products in Uttar Pradesh, including 57 handicrafts and 20 agricultural and food items.

The intellectual property of Uttar Pradesh will work as a booster dose in making the economy of the state a 1 trillion dollar economy. The UP Government is organising the trade Show to provide the international market for the GI products of the state. The government is reviving the traditional skills and GE products of the country and bringing them to an international platform.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath himself has been doing branding and marketing of GI products and one district one product (ODOP) of the state by becoming their brand ambassador.

Additional Commissioner of Industries Umesh Kumar Singh said here on Monday that 60 GI-registered products of Uttar Pradesh will be displayed in the five-day UP International Trade Show. GI products are being given a separate place in the trade show. Most of the GI-tagged products of Kashi and nearby districts will be seen on the stage of the trade show.

Padma Shri Dr Rajnikant, known as the GI Man of India, said that the business of GI products is expected to increase by 20 to 25 per cent after the International Trade Show. He informed that about 60 lakh people are associated with the business of GI-registered products in Uttar Pradesh, with an estimated annual turnover of about USD 1 trillion.

 

An official said there are a total of 77 GI-registered products in Uttar Pradesh, and 60 products of handicrafts, handloom, and food products will be present in the trade show. A maximum of 32 GI-tagged products are from Kashi and the surrounding districts alone.

These products are ready to take an international flight by spreading their shine at the trade show.
