International Day of Yoga preparation going on at war footing

The stage is all set in Dehradun to host the main event of the International Day of Yoga on coming 21 June. A rehearsal for the proposed programme was held at Forest Research Institute campus here on Tuesday. Hundred of participated practised various Yoga Aasans from 7 a.m to 7.45 a.m.

During the 45 minute rehearsal the yoga practitioners did neck bending (Griva Sakti Vikasaka), trunk movement (Kati Śakti Vikasaka), standing postures, sitting postures, supine and other postures. The Uttarakhand Police has made elaborated traffic plan for the 21 June. The Ballupur to Premnagar route will remain closed for heavy 20 June midnight and this same route will remain closed for the light vehicle from 3 a.m to 10 a.m on 21 June. The traffic will be diverted to other routes.

According to reports Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be arriving in Dehradun on 20 June evening. A team from PMO is presently camping in Dehradun. Preparation works are presently going on a war footing at the Forest Research Institute (FRI) for hosting the mega event. The common public was barred from entering the FRI campus due to preparation works on Tuesday and this ban will continue till Wednesday.

Arrangements for over fifty thousand participants, to practice Yoga along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, are near completion. Yoga mats have been placed at the main field of the Forest Research Institute. For the convenience of the participants, 16 parking slots have been created near the venue. Besides this, 50 toilets of 10 units, 40 tankers of 3,000 litres have been arranged. Over two dozen ambulances will be deployed at the main venue.
