The South West Delhi Police has busted an inter-state auto lifter gang. Police have arrested five key members of the gang including two desperate auto lifters, one supplier-cum-receiver and two mechanics of a workshop.

Ten stolen cars, one laptop, one scanner device used for decoding and coding the lock data of cars, fake number plates, breaking and opening tools have been recovered from the accused identified as Dinesh (32), Samad (23), Yahya (25), Nafeesh (42), and Muslim Khan (42).

Deputy Commissioner of Police, South West Delhi, Manoj C said that in view of increasing incidents of car thefts, a dedicated team of Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) under the leadership of Inspector (In-charge) Gautam Malik consisting of Sub-Inspectors Sanjeev Baliyan, Suresh Kumar, Assistant SIs Praveen, Vinod, Ajay Gulia, Hemant Sharma, Head Constables Hariom, Dharmender, Mohit, Ravinder, Raghmender, Constables Praveen and Dharmender was constituted under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police Devender Kumar Singh.

With relentless efforts, the team succeeded in arresting two auto lifters Samad Khan and Dinesh, from Sagarpur, with stolen cars. Further, on their instance another accused person Yahya and his associates involved in the car theft were arrested from different locations in Delhi and recovered stolen cars from their possession.
