The Indian Army on Monday foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Baramulla district of north Kashmir, officials said.
The infiltration attempt was detected in the Torna area of the Uri sector, where troops observed suspicious movement near the LoC.
The infiltrators were challenged, resulting in a brief exchange of fire. No casualties have been reported so far on either side.
A large-scale search operation is currently underway in the area, officials said.
Meanwhile, another massive search operation has been launched in the areas along the LoC in Poonch district after several drones from Pakistan were spotted hovering along the border.
About six drones were detected on Sunday night over the forward areas in the Mendhar sector, including Balakote, Langote and Gursai nallah, officials said.
The unmanned aerial vehicles, believed to be used for surveillance, flew at a high altitude and returned to the Pakistani side within minutes.
Troops cordoned off the area and began searches at daybreak to ensure that no weapons or narcotics had been dropped.
Pakistani drones carrying arms, ammunition and drugs into Jammu and Kashmir have become a growing concern for the Indian security agencies in recent years.
