IndiGo also said that it plans to expand its operations from NMIA by adding direct routes to more destinations from 2026.

IndiGo already operates more than 2,300 daily flights to more than 130 destinations, including 90 domestic airports.

Meanwhile, Akasa Air stated that it will schedule flights from the NMIA from December 25, to connect directly with four Indian cities.

Akasa Air will operate its maiden flight between Delhi and NMIA on December 25 which will be followed by flights to Goa, Kochi and Ahmedabad.

Commenting on the development, Akasa Air Co-Founder & Chief Commercial Officer Praveen Iyer said that, “For Akasa Air, NMIA strengthens our strategic presence in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and western India, allowing us to optimise capacity deployment and capture new demand pools”.
