Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday issued a strong warning to Pakistan, saying any “misadventure” in the current situation would be met with a decisive response from India. He stated that if the neighbouring country plans any actions against India, the response will be unprecedented.
Rajnath Singh said, “Our neighbour, in the current situation, can commit any misadventure. If it does so, India’s action will be unprecedented and decisive.”
Speaking at a Sainik Samman Sammelan in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, Singh said India’s approach to national security has undergone a significant shift under the NDA government, both in attitude and action.
pic.twitter.com/97m2vBZyap

Referring to Operation Sindoor, the Defence Minister called it the largest anti-terror operation in India’s military history. He said the operation showcased the country’s firm resolve to respond strongly to threats.
The Defence Minister also cited the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack, which left 26 people dead, and said Indian forces had targeted and destroyed terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan in its aftermath.
According to Singh, Indian forces acted swiftly during Operation Sindoor, reiterating that Pakistan was brought “to its knees within 22 minutes.”
Rajnath Singh said that Operation Sindoor is still ongoing and has not been concluded. He warned that any provocation from across the border would be met with a strong response.

Rajnath Singh also criticised the former Congress-led UPA government, accusing it of failing to respond firmly to terror attacks on India. He alleged that earlier responses were largely limited to sending “thick dossiers” to those responsible, rather than delivering a firm rebuttal.
Recalling past incidents, Singh said that during the UPA’s tenure, the country frequently witnessed terror attacks and bomb blasts, but the former government’s reaction lacked strength and deterrence.
“If I just talk about terrorism here, then you remember how the situation was when the Congress-led UPA Government was in power? Day in and day out, there would be a terrorist incident in some part or the other of the country, or news of Bomb Blasts in cities would come. What was the government’s response at that time? Thick dossiers were handed over, on which no action was taken,” asserted Singh.
Highlighting the current government’s approach, he pointed to key military responses, including the 2016 Uri surgical strike, the air strikes after the Pulwama attack, and the recent Operation Sindoor following the Pahalgam terror attack. He said these actions demonstrate that the government has dealt a strong blow to terrorism.
