Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Monday said that India’s scientific talent has gained global recognition, with the country now ranked sixth in patent filings and fourth in scientific publications. He added that India is expected to surpass the United States in publications by 2029.

The minister made these remarks during the curtain-raiser ceremony of the upcoming Emerging Science, Technology & Innovation Conclave (ESTIC-2025), scheduled to be held from November 3 to 5 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

Singh announced the theme for the three-day conclave — “Imagine, Innovate, Inspire for Viksit Bharat 2047” — and highlighted that it will focus on emerging technologies such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, biotechnology, space, and clean energy. He emphasised that these areas are vital to ensuring India’s strategic autonomy and long-term resilience.

Commending the Principal Scientific Adviser’s team for curating 11 thematic sessions, Singh said such initiatives symbolise India’s “quantum leap” from being a follower to becoming a frontrunner in science and innovation.

Positioning the conference as a platform for young innovators, startups, and researchers to showcase solutions, access mentorship, and engage with industry stakeholders, the minister said the conclave aims to transform India’s demographic dividend into an “innovation dividend.”

The Science and Technology Minister was joined by Secretaries of 13 ministries and departments, members of the scientific community, and representatives from research and industry at the curtain-raiser event.
