In her address, the President also mentioned about India’s precision strikes against terror infrastructure through Operation Sindoor last year. She added that during the operation, terror centres were destroyed and many terrorists were eliminated. The President stressed that the country’s self-reliance in the defence sector powered the historic success of Operation Sindoor.

She also highlighted the legacy of Vande Mataram and its role in uniting the nation. She noted that poet Subramanya Bharati composed the Tamil song “Vande Mataram Yenbom”, meaning “Let us chant Vande Mataram”, which helped connect people across regions with the patriotic spirit. She described Vande Mataram, composed by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, as the country’s lyrical national prayer. She said, “The great nationalist poet Subramanya Bharati composed the song “Vande Mataram Yenbom”, in the Tamil language, meaning “Let us chant Vande Mataram”, and connected the masses on an even larger scale with the spirit of Vande Mataram. Translations of this song in other Indian languages also became popular. Sri Aurobindo translated this song into English. Vande Mataram, composed by the venerable Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, is our lyrical national prayer.”

Referring to the recent birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, observed on 23 January, the President said the nation paid tribute to the freedom fighter for his unparalleled contribution to India’s independence. She recalled that since 2021, Netaji’s Jayanti has been celebrated as Parakram Diwas to inspire citizens, particularly the youth, with his indomitable patriotism. She added that Netaji’s slogan “Jai Hind” remains a powerful expression of national pride.
