World Economic Forum’s ‘Inclusive Growth and Development Report 2017’, which was released on Monday, featured India on the 62nd rank among 79 developing economies, below neighbouring countries China and Pakistan.

According to the report most countries are missing important opportunities to raise economic growth and reduce inequality at the same time because the growth model and measurement tools that have guided policymakers for decades require significant readjustment.

Lithuania is on the top of the list. Among India’s neighboring countries, China’s position is 26th and Pakistan is on 47th.

Talking about the inclusive advanced economies, Norway topped the list.

The World Economic Forum (WEF) released the yearly index in Davos before the start of its annual meeting, to be attended by several world leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump.

The index takes into account the “living standards, environmental sustainability and protection of future generations from further indebtedness”, the WEF said.

Last year, India was ranked 60th among 79 developing economies, while China was at 15th and Pakistan was ranked 52nd.
