RJD National Working President Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over Bihar’s current political situation, accusing him of heading an “inactive government.”
Addressing party workers on the occasion of Jananayak Karpoori Thakur’s death anniversary in Patna, the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly asserted the resilience of the RJD, outlined a roadmap for the party’s future political course, and reiterated his commitment to upholding Karpoori Thakur’s principles.
He said he had remained silent since the formation of the new NDA government in Bihar as he had given it 100 days to fulfil its electoral promises. “Four days are still left in the 100-day period. We will see how much of the government’s promises are actually fulfilled,” he added.
Tejashwi Yadav stated that the RJD had formed the government twice with the JD(U), but on both occasions they were “betrayed” as Nitish Kumar switched sides. He also alleged that the NDA copied several announcements made by the RJD during the elections.
Asserting confidence in his party, he said, “We are not weak. It is just that our time is currently weak. This may be their time, but our time will come, and when it does, everyone will be answered properly.”
Raising concerns over law and order, he claimed that incidence of murder and kidnapping were increasing in Bihar, criminals were being protected, minor girls were facing sexual assault, and corruption in police stations and block offices was at its peak.
Claiming that the BJP and JD(U) are “afraid” of the RJD, he dared them to come to the fray if they wished to contest elections independently. He further claimed that the RJD’s vote bank had increased and accused the NDA of distributing thousands of crores of rupees during the elections and misusing administrative machinery and money power.
Tejashwi announced that after Holi, he would begin touring districts across the state and work towards expanding the RJD into a national party. He concluded by stating that Lalu Yadav had never feared or bowed down, and neither would he.
