Enhancing capabilities along the borders, the Indian Army achieved a major logistics milestone with the induction of tanks and artillery guns into the Kashmir valley by a Military Special Train.
As part of the validation exercise, tanks, artillery guns, and dozers were successfully moved from the Jammu Region to Anantnag in South Kashmir, demonstrating enhanced mobility and logistical capability.
This milestone was achieved in close coordination with the railways, underscoring the transformative impact of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project in enabling rapid logistics build-up and strengthening operational readiness along the Northern Borders, said a defence spokesman on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, another milestone was achieved in the logistics and trade history of Jammu and Kashmir when a cement rake from Bharatgarh Goods Shed of Ambala Division successfully arrived at Chhann Arorian Goods Shed in the Jammu region.
The rake was loaded with approximately 1384 tons of cement. This is the first time a goods train loaded with cement has arrived at Chhann Arorian Goods Shed, which will strengthen the local economy, said Uchit Singhal, senior divisional commercial manager.
The continuous operation of inward/outward rakes at this goods shed will usher in a new era of trade and logistics, benefiting businesses and traders. “This goods shed has become a major freight loading/unloading point for the railways, promoting the movement of grains, cement, and other materials. This will strengthen the food security and supply chain of the region”, he added.
