Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav late on Friday night ordered the transfer of Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) Commissioner Dilip Kumar Yadav and the suspension of IMC Additional Commissioner Rohit Sisonia and water works in-charge Superintending Engineer Sanjeev Shrivastava in connection with the drinking water tragedy in the city.
The CM had initially ordered the transfer of Sisonia and Shrivastava on Friday evening and directed the issuance of a show-cause notice to Yadav.
Nonetheless, by late night, the CM ordered more stringent action against the officials.
Yadav has been posted as a Deputy Secretary in the State Secretariat at Bhopal.
As per official figures, at least 15 people have died in the Bhagirathpura locality of Indore after consuming contaminated Narmada river water supplied through household taps by the IMC.
Unofficial figures, however, claim the death toll to be at least 19.
