A 33-year-old IMA cadet was found dead in a swimming pool at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) here under mysterious circumstances, police said on Thursday.
A case was registered in the matter following a complaint by the Academy, they said.
According to police, the deceased cadet has been identified as S Balu from Kerala. They said the incident took place on Wednesday.
Police officials in Dehradun informed that according to the information shared by the academy, deceased IMA cadet S Balu ,33, was found unconscious in the swimming pool on Wednesday evening. He was immediately rushed to the hospital for medical help but doctors declared him dead. Following this a case was registered at Dehradun cantonment police station on the complaint of IMA.
An official at Dehradun Cantonment Police Station informed under condition anonymity that “case as to deceased IMA cadet was lodged on Thursday night by the IMA and post-mortem of his body was done on Thursday.”
“The exact cause of the death is not known as we don’t have the copy of the post-mortem report. The body was later handed over to the Academy,” a police official said.
It’s notable that the deceased IMA cadet was part of the training course under special commission program entry through Army Cadet College (ACC). The ACC courses are meant for serving soldiers of all three defence services to obtain commission in the Indian Army subject to their needed qualifications.
A substantial strength of ACC commissioned officials passes out every six months from IMA along with regular courses.
