The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur and FPSB India have entered into a partnership to launch an Executive Programme in Financial Planning integrated with the globally recognised CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER (CFP) certification. The collaboration was formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The initiative is aimed at preparing professionals with industry-relevant skills while addressing the growing demand for qualified financial planning experts in India.

The 11-month programme will be offered in a blended learning format and will combine management education with professional financial planning training. Participants will also have access to the CFP certification through the Fast Track Pathway, enabling them to pursue an internationally recognised credential alongside executive education.

Officials from both institutions said the programme has been designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations. The curriculum will focus on developing professionals who are equipped to provide ethical, client-centric financial advice while responding to the evolving needs of the financial services sector.

Speaking on the collaboration, FPSB India Chief Executive Officer Ramesh Vishwanathan said the organisation remains committed to developing professionals capable of addressing the increasingly complex financial needs of individuals and families.

He said that the partnership with IIM Raipur reflects a shared commitment to strengthening professional standards in financial planning by combining academic excellence with globally benchmarked certification. According to him, the programme will encourage participants to think strategically, uphold ethical standards and deliver solutions that enhance clients’ long-term financial well-being.

IIM Raipur Director in-Charge Prof. Sanjeev Prashar said the rapidly evolving financial services industry requires professionals who possess both sound management capabilities and comprehensive financial planning expertise. He said the collaboration would contribute to strengthening India’s financial education ecosystem by offering an industry-oriented programme that effectively connects classroom learning with professional practice. The initiative, he added, is intended to prepare participants for emerging opportunities in the financial services sector.

The Executive Programme will offer advanced management insights along with specialised financial planning knowledge for students, working professionals and aspiring practitioners seeking to build careers in the sector.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Prof. Prashar and FPSB India CEO Ramesh Vishwanathan in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.

The collaboration is expected to contribute to the future of financial planning education in India by combining theoretical understanding with practical industry exposure. The programme has been structured to equip participants with the knowledge, analytical ability and strategic perspective required to respond to changing client expectations and developments within the financial services industry.

The partnership also supports IIM Raipur’s broader objective of expanding interdisciplinary and industry-focused collaborations. Through the initiative, students will gain exposure to internationally recognised financial planning standards, while faculty members and researchers will have opportunities to engage with emerging areas such as wealth management, behavioural finance and financial planning research.

Both institutions expressed confidence that the partnership would create long-term value for students, professionals and the wider financial services ecosystem. They said the collaboration reflects a shared vision of building a stronger talent pool capable of meeting the future requirements of India’s financial planning profession.
