IIIT-Bhubaneswar hosts grand inauguration of 4-day International Conference on remote sensing

The International Institute of Information Technology, Bhubaneswar (IIIT-Bhubaneswar) inaugurated the International Conference on Geoscience and Remote Sensing Systems (InGARSS-2025), a four-day global event bringing together leading scientists, researchers, technologists, and policymakers to discuss cutting-edge advances in geoscience and remote sensing technologies. The conference aims to address contemporary challenges in disaster management, climate analytics, and environmental sustainability, among many other critical areas.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by distinguished dignitaries and eminent personalities from India and abroad. Governor of Odisha Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati delivered the inaugural address, commending IIIT-Bhubaneswar for hosting a conference of such global relevance and reiterating the state’s dedication toward fostering scientific excellence.

The ceremony featured a welcome address by Prof. Ashish Ghosh, Director, IIIT-Bhubaneswar, who underscored the institution’s role in advancing research in geoscience, AI, and data-driven environmental technologies.

The event was presided over by Dr. Paul A. Rosen, Scientist, NASA, and Dr. Saibun Tjuatja, President, Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS), both of whom emphasized future scope of international research collaboration in remote sensing applications.

Pradeep Kumar Raut, Special Secretary, Electronics & IT Department, and Manoj Ahuja, Chief Secretary, highlighted the state’s growing commitment to technological innovation and its strategic vision to integrate geospatial intelligence in governance and disaster preparedness.

The inaugural session concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks delivered by Prof. Susmita Ghosh, Professor, Jadavpur University, who acknowledged the contributions of the dignitaries, participants, organizers, and partners who made the event possible.

With participants from numerous countries and a diverse range of scientific domains, InGARSS-2025 marks a successful and promising start to a research-intensive program, featuring keynote lectures, technical sessions, workshops, and panel discussions scheduled over the next four days.
